Still Thorum Architecture, a Utah-based Architecture and Interior Design firm, needed a robust storage solution to house CAD drawings and related documents for their growing number of clients. Additionally, they were looking for a comprehensive messaging system with collaboration tools to facilitate work with remote clients and partners. Their previous storage solution, an external hard drive attached to one computer, was not only a single point of failure, but it also limited collaboration on client drawings and files while their messaging system, Google Apps, didn’t provide the enterprise-class collaboration features they needed.

Still Thorum turned to Dallas, Texas-based Saint Systems, a Microsoft Online Services Partner and Small Business Specialist, to implement Microsoft’s Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS), a set of messaging and collaboration tools, delivered as a subscription service, that provides rich messaging, storage and collaboration capabilities without the need to deploy and maintain software and hardware on-premise. These online services are designed to help meet business needs for robust security, all-day every-day reliability, and user productivity.

The suite includes Microsoft Exchange Online for email and calendaring;Microsoft SharePoint Online for portals and document sharing; Microsoft Office Communications Online for presence availability, instant messaging, and peer to peer audio calls; and Office Live Meeting for web and video conferencing.

It was a one day implementation for Saint Systems who migrated Still Thorum Architecture from Google Apps to Microsoft BPOS and the result has been nothing but positive. “Now we have a robust storage and document sharing system that can grow with us…,” says Montgomery Still, Principal, Still Thorum Architecture. “…and with Exchange, Communicator and Live Meeting, our collaboration with and service to our clients has improved dramatically.”
